Scottish Young Carers Festival

We would just like to say another big Thank You to all the young people in Highland who attended the Scottish Young Carers Festival last week.

Some very interesting discussions by the young people with one of the main topics being that not all young carers are aware or are fully informed about what the Carers (Scotland) Act 2016 will mean for them.

Check out the information sheet below which is a quick guide to young carers statement and your rights. Please share and let us know if this is helpful, do you need more information? What else should young carers know about?

Festival Feedback

Wow. What a great few days. Tree climbing, talent shows, glitter makeup, zombie workshops, questionable staff dancing, opera singing in the shower, plenty of burgers, 100s of young carers, bouncy castles, music, magic tricks and new friendships made.

A brilliant time at this years Scottish Young Carers Festival and lots of great ideas coming from the young people themselves as to what should be happening in Highland. Thank you so much to The Scottish Young Carers Services Alliance

Mull Camp & Trek Update

Update from Mull residential.
It's sunny.
Gorge walking, climbing, sailing and beach walks. Well done young carers.
I think we might be a bit jealous back here in the office.

And they're off to Mull...

This week a bunch of young carers in S2 and S3 are taking part in a weeks residential on Mull, courtesy of Camp and Trek. They are joined by a group from Edinburgh Young Carers, so plenty of laughs are being had.

During the week they will be developing confidence, building friendships, gaining news skills and enjoying some respite.

We are confidently informed that much chocolate has also been consumed.

Police Safety Training Event

A huge well done and thank you to this great bunch of young carers who attended our police safety day.

Thank you to Inverness Police Station for showing us round, letting us know what to do in an emergency and answering all our weird and wonderful questions.

This was followed by lots of laughs at the cinema and possibly a lot of cake.

Special thank you to our young volunteer Erin Murdoch, who came along and helped out during the day. We couldn't have done it without you.
