Young Carers Grant – Save the date, Thursday 29th March.

Have you heard about the Young Carers Grant?
As part of a package of support the Scottish Government is looking to introduce a Young Carer Grant for young carers aged 16 – 18. Young carers who are eligible for the grant would receive £300 towards helping them access leisure activities or support with education.
Carers Trust and Young Scot are holding focus groups with young carers across Scotland to discuss the design of this new grant. They will be asking who should get it and how should young carers access it. They will be visiting Inverness on Thursday 29th March and we are asking young carers aged 15 – 24 to come along and have their say.
Further information will be sent out soon but if you would like to be part of this discussion please get in touch Kirsty Campbell on 01463 723562 or kcampbell@connectingcarers.org.uk to find out more.
Be part of something great, have your say and help shape the future for young carers.

Student Carers Lunch - 12 April 2018

Young Carer Youth Ambassadors

Our Young Carer Youth Ambassadors have already been busy this year working alongside the team and ENABLE Scotland to look at emergency planning for young carers, designing a leaflet letting other young carers know what their rights are under the Carers (Scotland) Act 2016 and helping to plan and organise an event for young carers in primary school. Watch this space for information about this exciting event.
Young Carer Youth Ambassadors are young carers of secondary school age who want to raise the profile of young carers in Highland, help shape support services and gain volunteering hours.
If you are interested in finding out more please contact Alex Quill, Young Carers Worker at aquill@connectingcarers.org.uk
